Prayers to Infant Jesus

The faithful has always sought forms of prayer and intercession to praise the Lord and ask him some thanks. Among the many forms some of the best known are the Triduans (prayers recited for three consecutive days) and Novena (for nine consecutive days). Also, for the devotion to Jesus the Infant, some useful texts were born for prayer; here we have only a few, while it is possible to request the complete collection.

Triduum of praise to the Little King

This Triduum, especially suitable for preparing for the feast of Epiphany and other festivals related to the worship of the Infant Jesus, proposes to us as a model of worship and faith the Magi, who have seen in the Child of Bethlehem the Lord of the world.

First Day

The audio file is proposed in Italian

Listen (wait for a moment to upload the file):

O Jesus Christ, the King of peoples, who led the way of the Magi in Bethlehem with the light of the star, make that on their example we also faithfully follow your Word and your divine inspirations, doing what you suggest to our heart.

Glory to the Father… (three times)

The splendor of your glory, O Father, illuminate our hearts, because through the darkness of this world we can come to light of your dwelling. For Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Second Day

The audio file is proposed in Italian

Listen (wait for a moment to upload the file):

O Infant Jesus, who gathered around your crib, in adoration, the poor shepherds and the rich kings of the East, illuminate the rulers and rescue all the poor of the earth. Let us also love you with a humble heart, and make you small in spirit to enter your kingdom of justice and peace.

Glory to the Father… (three times)

Give us, O Father, to recognize the splendor of your glory in the poverty of your Son made man and to adore divine grandeur in the humility of his childhood. Do that by receiving the kingdom of heaven as children, we get the promised promise to the humble of heart. For Christ our Lord. Amen.

Third Day

The audio file is proposed in Italian

Listen (wait for a moment to upload the file):

O Baby Jesus, the Magi who came to worship you prostrated at your feet offering gold, incense and myrrh, recognizing you as a true King, true God and true Man. Allow us to imitate them, adoring them with faith in the sacrament of the Eucharist, and offering to you the gold of our lives and our gifts, the incense of our prayer, the myrrh of our sacrifices and our love.

Glory to the Father… (three times)

O Father, your Son Jesus has manifested himself in our mortal flesh. Grant to us, who we have known as a true man, to be internally renewed in his image. He lives and reigns for centuries. Amen.

Triduum to ask for a grace

First day

The audio file is proposed in Italian

Listen (wait for a moment to upload the file):

O Baby Jesus, here am I to open my heart. I need your help, without you I cannot do anything. You are infinite holiness and goodness, I am a poor sinner. Before asking what I want, I ask you forgiveness of my sins, and I invoke the strength to overcome my weaknesses. You, God the Child, reveals the face of the Father who loves us and knows what we need (Mt 6,8). That is why I present the request that is so fond of me… (it shows the desired grace). O Jesus, as the Canaanite woman of the Gospel I say to you, “Lord, help me” and I look forward to you the same answer: “You are made as you wish” (Mt 15:25). You are my God: I trust in you and trust that you will listen to my prayer. Amen.

Glory to the Father… (three times)

Jesus, listen to us! Jesus, hear it!

Second Day

The audio file is proposed in Italian

Listen (wait for a moment to upload the file):

Lord Jesus, I contemplate and pray in the image of your childhood, which attracts me to your heart and reveals to me your love. You alone are my support for me. If I support creatures, I find insufficient help, not so much disappointment and bitterness. You are only omnipotent; you are only compassionate and faithful. You have become a man, covered with weakness and subjected to the test, to compass our infirmities, and to obtain all grace and mercy (cf. Eph 4:15). Even today I ask you the grace I wish so much… (the desired grace is displayed). As the two blind I beg you, “Have mercy on me!” And I trust in you that you have said, “Do it according to your faith” (Mt 9:27). Give me what I ask for the merits of your divine Childhood, and through the intercession of your Most Holy Mother. Amen.

Glory to the Father … (three times)

Jesus, listen to us! Jesus, hear it!

Third Day

The audio file is proposed in Italian

Listen (wait for a moment to upload the file):

O Jesus, our King and Shepherd, you said, “All that you ask in prayer, believe in it, and be granted” (Mk 11, 24). I turn to you in the difficulties and sufferings I meet and, confident in your promise, “Knock and open it” (Mt.7: 7), I’m not tired of knocking at the door of your love; again, please grant me grace that I am waiting … (the desired grace is displayed). With the same faith as the centurion, I call upon you, “Stretch out your hand” (Mt 9:18), and I remember your words: “Do not be afraid, keep on believing” (Mk 5:36). You who are our brother and know the hearts of all (Acts 1:24), who look at the affections and thoughts of men (Acts 2:23), grant me the grace that I ask you soon; help me to love you every day more and to always serve you with fidelity. Amen.

Glory to the Father… (three times)

Jesus, listen to us! Jesus, hear it!

(Prague, 26th September 2009)

Lord Jesus, we gaze on you as a child
and we believe that you are the Son of God, who
became man through the working of the Holy Spirit
in the womb of the Virgin Mary.
Just as in Bethlehem,
we too adore you with Mary, Joseph, the Angels and the Shepherds
and acknowledge you as our only Savior.
You became poor to enrich us with your poverty:
Grant that we may never forget
the poor and all those who suffer.
Protect our families,
bless all the children of the world
and grant that the love you have
brought us may always reign amongst us
and lead us to a happier life.
Grant, O Jesus, that all may
recognize the truth of your birth,
so that all may know that you have come to bring
light, joy, and peace to the whole human family.
You are God, who live and reign with God the Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Lord Jesus, divine physician (Mk 2,17),
many sick people resorted to you
“power was coming from Him and healing them all” (Lk 6:19).
With sincere faith I also invoke your help in my suffering
and, like the healed leper, I beg you:
“Lord, if you will, you can sanctify me” (Mt 8: 2).
Good Samaritan,
yet pour out of my wounds the oil of your consolation
and help me to do, like you, the will of the Father,
making thanks for everything, always, anyway.
Powerful little King,
for the love she nourishes for the weak and the suffering,
for the intercession of all believers,
for the spiritual efficacy of this blessed Oil
with whom I sign with faith and humble abandonment,
reinforce, refresh, find out,
so that I can tell everyone
your infinite mercy. Amen.

Listen (wait for a moment to upload the file):

(which is recited at the Shrine of Arenzano on the 28th of each month)

Lord Jesus, who by our love
you made yourself as small as a child,
you have experienced poverty in the cave
and the rejection of men,
the threat of death and the far-off escape,
when you heard the cry of pain
of the innocent people killed by Herod.
Please pray for the children who suffer
for the lack of food, education and affection,
victims of war, illness and violence
which stains their innocence.
We entrust them to you,
that you have caressed and blessed the children,
and you have made them the example of true grandeur.
Let life be welcomed in every family
and guarded as your gift.
Heal the wounds of the little ones and console their parents.
Convert the heart of those who offend their lives
and trampling children’s rights.
It also helps us to love, protect, educate
the children who are entrusted with us,
and let us become like them
to enter the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
